so I'm thinking of studying.....
Yeah, I know, interesting, eh? For the last year, I've wanted to do something new to keep my brain working and thinking about new stuff. But last year I was too late and I didn't find anything that really grabbed me. And I can't study full-time and I don't find exams incredibly exhilarating. So last week I was looking and I found a one-year Cross-cultural Theology class that is offered as a sort of Distance Ed thing. The class is actually part of the Bachelors degree in Theology from the Protestant Theological University (PThU) in the north of the Netherlands. You do stuff on your own time, but two of the five modules you have to go to the university. Which is good for me because that gives me just that extra bit of motivation that I miss in complete self-study. And exams, well, yeah, if I want some sort of recognition for the work I did, I guess I have to do those as well! But this course also gives marks for papers and stuff, so it's not all tests.
The five modules of the course are: Exploring Religious Practices, Introduction to Crosscultural Theology, Philosophy, Abrahamic Religions and Deepening Crosscultural Theology. Sound interesting? PThU is a well-known Dutch Reform school in Nld. My boss knows the president of the university and said the school is good and it sounds like a good class that he thinks I would like. Tuition is not bad, 1.600 euro for the year, plus books.
I'm waiting for info from the university before I decide, but so far I'm seriously thinking about it!
